Springheel Jack

as part of the Hallowe'en Procession from Mumchance and Guise, Primrose Hill to Cecil Sharp House, London 31/10/09

Springheel Jack was a Victorian supernatural phenomenon who accosted young women in alleyways in Deptford and across London, spewing blue flame, ripping at their bodies with his sharp nails and springing off into the night. I used elements of both Jack and his victims, plus a live eel and some black treacle to create a sinister appearance.
